چکیده

Sorghum [Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench], is believed to be originated in Ethiopia and Sudan. Although, many morphological molecular diversity studies reveal the existence of genetic variations with sorghum populations, their distribution within basic races were not considered. Hence, present study aimed analyze extent variation Ethiopian landraces using SSR markers. A total 107 obtained from Biodiversity Institute (EBI) representing 12 ecological zones grouped according race types based on inflorescence spiklet field at maturity time. Twelve markers revealed a 110 alleles average polymorphic content 0.76 allele frequencies show 42 them rare (less than 0.05), 22 ranged 0.05 0.1, while 46 higher 0.1. Expected observed heterozygosity 0.78 0.2, respectively. The differentiation between populations also moderate (FST=0.07 for 0.13 E/zones) indicating continuous exchange genes among them. Partitioning indicated 61.38 55.17% individuals racial zonal Neighbor-Joining cluster analysis four major grouping groups where majority caudatum durra form separate intermediate durra-bicolor two sub-clusters. Overall locus, intra-racial population showed greatest (He=0.77 0.75) dura-bicolor caudatum, Information along important agronomic traits could used conservation future breeding programs sorghum.   Key words: bicolor, races, diversity, SSR.

Development of Genome-wide Simple Sequence Repeat Markers Using Whole-genome Shotgun Sequences of Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench)

Simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers with a high degree of polymorphism contribute to the molecular dissection of agriculturally important traits in sorghum (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench). We designed 5599 non-redundant SSR markers, including regions flanking the SSRs, in whole-genome shotgun sequences of sorghum line ATx623. (AT/TA)n repeats constituted 26.1% of all SSRs, followed by (AG/TC)n a...

Evaluation of yield stability of forage sorghum [Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench] genotypes using AMMI analysis

Sorghum is an important forage crop used as silage, fresh forage and dry forage. To evaluate the yield stability of 16 genotypes; cultivars, lines and hybrids, of forage sorghum, experiments were conducted using randomized complete block design with three replications during 2016-17 at Karaj, Isfahan, Gorgan, and Mashhad field stations, Iran. The results of combined analysis of variance showed ...

Inheritance of Resistance to Sorghum Shoot Fly, Atherigona soccata in Sorghum, Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench

Sorghum production is affected by a wide array of biotic constraints, of which sorghum shoot fly, Atherigona soccata is the most important pest, which severely damages the sorghum crop during the seedling stage. Host plant resistance is one of the major components to control sorghum shoot fly, A. soccata. To understand the nature of gene action for inheritance of shoot fly resistance, we evalua...

B-Glucans in the Caryopsis of Sorghum Bicolor (L.) Moench

Fluorescence microscopy was used to determine the l ocation of Bglucans in sorghum. Sections from three genetically different sorghum cultivars were st ained with Calcofluor or Congo Red , fluorochromes which have been reported to react with 13-glucans. Autofluorescence, indicative of ferulic acid in other cereals, was observed in untreated sections. When stained sections were treated with endo...
